About Me

Life • Design • Happiness

A Brief History

Selfie Photo I started off my career attending the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan and working as an intern in the A/V library at McCann-Ericson. Throughout college I was able to hone my craft and work my way up in ad agencies to become an Art Director at Campbell-Ewald and Doner Advertising. I had the pleasure of working on accounts like Owens-Corning, Minute Maid, Chevrolet, Bush's Baked Beans, and Mazda. I started in traditional advertising (print and television) and loved every minute of it – even the all-nighters for new business pitches. I was doing great and getting recognition. After I received an offer I couldn't pass up, I took a new job in a new city.

I moved out of Detroit back in 2007 and went to Pittsburgh where life came to a screeching halt. The work and opportunities were limited. I gave Pittsburgh a fair 10 months, and although I made the best of a bad decision to leave Detroit, I quickly packed my bags for greener pastures and moved to Chicago.

More Modern Times

I lived in Chicago for 7+ years where I was awesome at life working on cool projects for Nokia, specifically designing dash-navigation systems for BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Peugot, and a myriad of other auto manufacturers. For the most part it was a lot of pairing mobile devices to dashboard nav systems. (Think: Apple CarPlay or Android Auto but specific to OEM's.) Being heavily involved in mobile devices and app design allowed me to expand my reach in the digital world. I traveled regularly to San Diego and Berlin to work with development teams which was an added perk.

In March of 2015, I accepted a job at Nationwide and have since been the User Experience Lead and a Mobile App Designer and subject matter expert for mobile app design. I’ve had the pleasure of livening up the Nationwide flagship mobile app to bring it into 2015 on the Mobile Refresh Project. I was later able to completely redesign the flagship app during the Mobile Future Envisioning Project in 2016-18. Throughout 2019, I’ve designed and launched a debt pay-off app called nimbl.

I’ve worked with outstanding UX teams and developers and we do great work. Plus, being a senior digital designer for a national insurance company is pretty awesome!
